I must admit that this was a new one on me so I had to do some research. Turns out there really is such a thing. Coffee beer. So you can have a bud and be wide awake with a hangover at the same time?
Coffee Beer: Good or Evil
This creation could either be a monstrous abomination for beer lovers and coffee drinkers or the most amazing marriage ever celebrated. I suppose it all depends on your taste… And your taste. Regardless, porters and stouts are the most commonly used beers for these combinations. It is agreed that heavy, dark and rich beers are highly complimented by the smoky, semi-sweet flavor of coffee. A bitterness that is not unlike dark chocolate, sweet and creamy, smooth and infused with vanilla beans is the perfect Dominican Republic ground coffee for this process. There are lighter beers that have transformed into coffee beers but stouter ale is preferred by most coffee beer lovers.
The Top 10 American Coffee Beers
Not only is coffee beer in existence, there’s a bunch of them and even a list of the 10 best. Here it is:
By Midnight Sun Brewing-Arctic Reno Coffee Porter; Barley Brothers Brewery makes Double Espresso Stout; Good People Brewing makes Coffee Oatmeal Stout (breakfast and happy hour all at once); Capitol City Brewing makes (and this scares me a little) Fuel; Blind Tiger Brewery is responsible for Java Porter (it’s good that they’ve found something for those poor blind tigers to excel at); Kona Brewing has their Pipeline Porter; Big Shot Espresso Stout is put out by Twisted Pine Brewing; Coffee Imperial Stout is made by Goose Island; Surly Brewing makes Coffee Bender (bender…perfect) and the number one coffee beer of all time is made by CB and Potts Brewery… Java the Hut.
If you really want to be wide awake while you’re deadening your senses, try espresso beer!
